13 Dwarves and a Barrel Rider

You can say what you want about the Hobbit movies but the barrel scene is just a great inspiration for a tabletop fight.

Put your heroes in a couple of barrels and give them numerous pursuers who are on foot ashore. Spears and bows are particularly nasty and require creative responses from your heroes. In addition, there are many opponents who only have short weapons and can only reach them with great difficulty. So your heroes also have a motivation to stay in the barrels, as they could easily be attacked and surrounded by these melee fighters when they get on land.

Let the barrels move a few grids each lap. They should be a little slower than the pursuing opponents and the players should be able to steer the direction a bit. Now a hunt along the river begins with many dives and funny experiences that only end at the last waterfall, where the pursuers have to give up. This is where the skilled of your group can shine. Standing on a barrel, the ranger sends arrow after arrow in the direction of the pursuers, while the monk stands on the face of the barbarian and catches the enemy arrows from the air.
